Honoring a Hero - Astronaut Alan Shepard

Alan Shepard Project Mission Statement:

This project has been developed to honor Derry, New Hampshire's hometown hero NASA Astronaut Alan Shepard. We will strive to encourage all generations to dream and be inspired by raising awareness of Alan Shepard's accomplishments, and educate the public on the disciplines and issues that surrounded his being the first American in space and one of the 12 humans to walk on the Moon.

This NASA Astronaut Alan Shepard bust by Bob Rassmussen is at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery center in Concord, NH.

"Al's on the surface. It's been a long way, but we're here."
